A boy and his problems

ashworks

ashworks:

I need to start talking out my ideas more–not where stories will go, but just. Sharing what I’m working on, so I can actually start making this comic again.

This one is a dark urban fantasy, queer, and full of sass. Also, definitely focused toward mature audiences. He’s been thrown around online a lot, but it’s been a long time since I’ve actually discussed his story.

About the boy–a quick (re)introduction:

Stuck in his hometown at the start of his story, Dzan finds out through unfortunate events that he has the ability to conjure fire with his mind. He learns that vampires are real, dragons are powerful, and there’s a large, secret supernatural world he has to navigate on top of having his own issues as a young man coming to terms with himself, and what that even means. He’s got anger issues, bouts of emotional turmoil, is prone to substance abuse (until it kicks him in the ass), and is an all around mess. I love him.

He starts out low, and his journey is… very bumpy. The people in his life care for him, though.

Here are some miscellaneous sketches and drawings from the last few years. Some newer, some older, but still all the same.

I started this as a webcomic about 6 years ago and aborted it pretty quickly–I’ve come a long way with what I think it’ll be and where things’ll go.

First things first, though–getting a new name for it.

(This may be crossposted–sorry, if you see it in a few places. The Great Social Schism is making crossposting necessary right now.)

A quick sketch I did of a side character for one of my projects a little while back. Everyone knows a guy like Craig—chaotic, good natured, punk-never-dies, stuck living with family at a job that pays too little. He goes to shows, he parties, he may not be make the wisest choices, but he’ll always help you if you’re in trouble—even if he sometimes got you into it.

Time to populate this with art, WIPs, and sketches. I’ll be uploading stuff done from over the last several years as well as recent stuff, but not all at once for some sanity.

This is Ananda, from one of my story projects. Drawn on stream earlier this year.
